Food donations
We aim to offer our clients healthy foods and food that they like. You can leave your donation in the bin outside of South Presbyterian Church, and for large donations email us at dobbsferrypantry@gmail.com, and we’ll arrange a time for you to drop off your donation at the pantry. Please do not donate expired food, packaged food that’s been opened, food in glass containers, and home-baked items. We welcome donations of diapers and baby wipes.

Want to Host a Food Drive?
If you’re thinking about organizing a food drive, keep these tips in mind:

• Email us. We’re at dobbsferrypantry@gmail.com. Tell us when your food drive is and we’ll post the info on this site, and together we’ll pick a time for your group to deliver the food to the pantry.

• Think healthy.  We welcome donations of beans, canned protein like tuna, low-sugar cereal, peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, low-sodium soups, nuts, granola bars, and cooking oil.

• Consider household staples. Toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, and dish detergent are necessities, and your donation helps our clients stretch their food budget further.

• Matching Gifts
Some employers match employee donations to charitable organizations. If you need help navigating the matching gifts process, email us.

• Remember the Pantry in Your Will
Remembering the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry in your estate planning helps to ensure that the pantry can provide food to the neediest families for years to come. Need help setting this up? Send us an email.

    1. Thank you, Eric. The pantry is open tomorrow between 10:00 and 12:00, but I’ll get there around 9:00. The pantry is located at South Presbyterian Church, 343 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry. See you around 11:00. If there’s any problem, call me on my cell: 914-522-1154.

    1. Theresa, thank you for thinking of the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry. You were asking if we pick up food donations. Sometimes volunteers will offer to pick food up or make deliveries for us. Where are you located and how much food do you have to offer? We’ll figure it out from there.

    1. Yes, Pam. This past week we gave Stop & Shop gift cards to people so that they wouldn’t have to stay in line for long, but we hope to include a bag of food each week along with the cards. Cooking oil is one of the items our clients ask for the most, as well as size 5 and 6 diapers. Another popular item is dried black beans, so if you’re in the supermarket and can pick something up for us we would be most appreciative. Thank you for thinking of us!

    1. Tara, we would love to have fresh vegetables to give to our clients if you could drop them off on Wednesday morning around 9:00. Would that be possible? That way they could be packed into bags to be ready for when the clients arrive at 10:00.

  1. Hi, I see that there is a drop off point for food donations for the Hastings food pantry at Foodtown in Hastings. Is there a thought about setting up a food donation drop off point at Stop & Shop in Dobbs Ferry for the Dobbs Ferry food pantry? I think if you had that you would get additional donations as there are probably other people who want to donate but don’t want to make an additional trip beyond going to the grocery store. Hope this is a helpful suggestion for you.

    1. Anna, two of our clients just gave birth, so your offer came at the perfect time. Can you drop them off to me at my house at 69 Ogden Place, Dobbs Ferry?

      1. Yes! Will do. Glad they can be useful. May I bring clothing as well? If so, for boys or girls or both? Thank you,

      2. Anna, the pantry has no storage for clothing but thanks for the offer. Zion Episcopal Church runs a thrift shop with clothing. I’m not sure if they’re accepting clothing at this point, but at some point I’m sure they’d be happy to accept the clothes. Affordables on Main Street is, I believe, a consignment shop for clothing. You could look into that also.

      3. Anna, we got the diapers. Thank you so much! We’ll give these to the two clients who have recently given birth. Thank you for helping the Pantry and our clients!

    1. Jackie, thank you so much for thinking of the Pantry. Perishable items are tricky because storage is an issue for us. Would you be able to donate some shelf-stable items like tuna, canned tomatoes, etc.? We stockpile those items until we have around 130 or 140 of them, then they go into the boxes we prepare to give out every Wednesday. Also, monetary donations are gladly accepted, using the PayPal feature on the website. Thanks for reaching out to us during the holidays. We’re expecting a lot of hungry clients!

    1. Hi Tim,
Yes, there is a brown “Donations Bin” on the lawn in front of South Presbyterian Church where you can leave non-perishible donations anytime.
Thanks for thinking of the Pantry!
      Gretchen
