February may be the shortest month, yet it often feels the longest. This winter, in particular, has been exceptionally harsh, bringing relentless snow and arctic temperatures that have proven a challenge to our logistics. Thankfully, our dedicated and adaptable volunteers rise to every challenge. When severe weather required us to move our operation indoors last month, they were prepared and carried it off without a hitch.
There was one day, however, when hazardous conditions at the church made it necessary to cancel our service for only the second time in our history. We never make that decision lightly as we value our commitment to providing nutritious food to our neighbors in need.
What we deliver extends beyond food. It is connection, dignity, and community. Our clients have become family. Volunteers remember who needs gluten-free items, who is monitoring sugar intake, and who likes rainbow bagels. They inquire after their health and families. They chat with their children. To be present at the distribution is to witness love in action.
As always, we are deeply grateful to our community partners. We rely on monthly donations from civic groups, local churches, synagogues, local businesses, Scouts, students and other groups. Your support makes this work possible, and we simply could not do it without you.
Thank you again to Mom’s Organic Market, Stop & Shop, Sunshine Bagels and Panera Bread, The Scarsdale Woman’s Club, Zion Episcopal Church in Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley United Methodist, Temple Beth Shalom in Hastings.
Stay warm and Stay kind,
