If you’re interested in helping out with our efforts to improve our community, the absolute best thing you can do is tell other people about the pantry! Make sure that people in need know about the pantry, and the people who can help know where to go. If you’re interested in volunteering at the pantry, we always need volunteers to help with food drives; help unpack Feeding Westchester and Pea Pod orders; help shop for items still needed at grocery stores; help pick up donations from partners; help write grants; help write marketing materials; help with our online presence; help us grow and improve; help with correspondence. If you’re interested in doing any of these things, please contact us.
Monetary donations are always needed. You can make a donation through our Pay Pal function on this website, or you can mail us a check, made out to Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry.
Or you can donate food to us by dropping off shelf-stable foods at any time by leaving the food in the church kitchen (South Presbyterian Church, 343 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry). Please make sure that the food hasn’t expired because we can’t offer expired food to our clients. Put a note on it that says “pantry” and we’ll shelve it and give it out the next time we’re at the pantry. Please also attach your name and address so that we can send you a thank-you note. We value all donations.
Another useful thing that you can do to help with the food pantry is organize a food drive! We like to coordinate our food drives so that the flow of food into the food pantry is more even (for example, we overflow during Thanksgiving, but have much less during the summer). Please email us with the dates you were thinking of planning your food drive so that we can post the dates on the website! We have a list of our most popular foods that we can send to you so that you can make copies and hand them to the shoppers as they go into the store.
